A new platform for scientific research cooperation between Taiwan and the United States, the Taiwan science and technology hub is detailed here

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) established the Taiwan Science and Technology Hub (Taiwan S&T Hub) at Stanford University to integrate a wide breadth of resources, which span from scientific research, academia, start-ups, and talent cultivation, into a single platform that will be crucial in promoting cooperation between Taiwan and the United States (U.S.). The related details and advantages are listed as follows.

Integrating existing science and technology resources

The NSTC coordinates cross-ministry and cross-discipline science and technology (S&T) programs and allocates relevant S&T resources. The Taiwan S&T Hub will help integrate existing S&T and innovation resources allocated by Taiwan’s ministries, including the National Development Council, the NSTC, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, in the West Coast of the United States to enhance bilateral scientific research cooperation, talent cultivation, and talent exchanges. At the Taiwan S&T Hub, government agencies, academia, and industry will be able to collaborate, share information of mutual interest, and showcase Taiwan’s integrated S&T environment to the international community.

Connecting Taiwan’s S&T capacities with U.S scientific research institutions

The Taiwan S&T Hub will facilitate stronger cooperation between Taiwan and the U.S. in S&T research, research and development (R&D), and industrial applications. It will connect Taiwan’s S&T capacities with crucial scientific research institutions in the U.S. and serve as an important platform for cooperation in academia and industry. This will create further opportunities for comprehensive links in fields such as semiconductors, precision health, quantum technology, and sustainable energy.

Launching a postdoctoral talent cultivation program & holding various S&T events

In addition to helping researchers establish a presence in the U.S. and the advantages mentioned above, the Taiwan S&T Hub has launched a postdoctoral talent cultivation program that focuses on emerging fields of scientific research and is planning to hold a series of academic and scientific research conferences, symposiums, and workshops at Stanford University and the surrounding areas to enhance Taiwan’s international profile and showcase Taiwan’s strengths in S&T.
